WELCOME TO MY WORLD

Portrait

My name is Jamie. Otherwise known as Xia Yi Yeng. I am your classic ABC (American born Chinese), I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Seattle. To be more specific, I actually grew up in the suburbs near the valleys which is a quick drive from the city...at least back when there was less traffic taking over Seattle. But to keep it simple for everyone, Seattle is my home. My heart. My oasis, if you will.

Around five years ago, I made a solo move to Hong Kong. I came with no intentions or long term goals, and I ended up staying and living here ever since. Some of you may know me through my work as a model, actress, or television host. Thus, I wanted to create this personal website as a way to inspire anyone and everyone; by sharing more about the real me for you all to get to know on a deeper level.

With that said, here's some things you may not actually know about me. Along with being a model and actress, I also majored in science & psychology. I love observing the minuscule details in human behavior most people may overlook. All forms of life are art-- and every single one of you absolutely fascinates me. Aside from science & psychology, I escape this world with literature. (Bless my mother for making me read so much as a child!) I honestly believe that with books, your mind has the potential to stretch to endless realms of imagination.

Similar to art, words aren’t just meant to be looked at, they are meant to be felt. For my fellow bookworms out there, I would love to hear your book suggestions. My favorite book is Catcher in the Rye. What's yours?

I grew up as a competitive swimmer and gymnast back in America. I started swimming at 4 years old and started gymnastics at 7. These sports consumed me. I'll never forget being up at 4AM with my sister getting ready for competitions and championships, sharing blue gatorade, packing boxes of snacks, and the memories made with my fellow teammates.

Over time, these sports shaped me mentally and physically. Having been an athlete for so many years really set up a base for who I am today. Being athletic drives my habits as a health and wellness lover. Remember- You are the most important person in your life; take care of yourself.

When I initially meet people they always want to know about what brought me to Asia and why I decided to stay. My answer isn't definitive, I came here on a whim and I grew up exponentially. A new life is assumed to be full of fun and excitement, and sure it is, except I want to be completely honest with you...there are times I wish I had that classic university experience. Sorority sisters, study dates at the library, college crushes, weekend parties, late night pizza, etc. I used to fear that I had missed out on those years of my life. Until I realized I didn't miss out, I simply traded that experience for a whole other experience that is equally as special. I believe that life is a balanced compilation of sacrifices and achievements in the end.

If there's one thing I've learned, is that things don't always go as planned. I've become a person who actually likes not knowing who, where, and what I'm going to be years from now.

I want to encourage people to accept changing time and time again. Change may be the most beautiful consistency we have in life. Let us learn how to cherish it.

As you may have already assumed, I have created this website to share my work portfolio as well as continuously blog about the things that bring me joy in life. And in turn, I hope all the photos, information, and advice I share with you bring you some form of joy as well.

If there's any questions you have for me or any concepts you'd like me to blog about, please don't be shy and let me know.

Lastly, thank you endlessly to those of you who have grown with me along this journey. I am eternally thankful for you.
